| January 4 - 11 Transylvania Vocational Services Art Show at TC Arts Council Enjoy artwork by adults with disabilities who work at Transylvania Vocational Services (TVS). TVS specializes in blending and packaging dry powder products for government and commercial customers, while providing employment and vocational services to adults with disabilities and other barriers to employment. | March 1 – 28 Gallery Exhibit: Outdoor Photography Contest sponsored by Davidson River Outfitters at the TC Arts Council. Photographers from the South are invited to enter this photography contest with a theme “Outdoor Photography” including scenery, animals, outdoor adventure . . . To get an application to enter email tcarts@comporium.net. The photos will be on display March 1 – 28, 2012. Deadline to enter is February 27. | April 5 – 27 Transylvania County Student Art Show 2012 at TC Arts The Transylvania Community Arts Council in Brevard, NC hosts this annual exhibit of artwork by local Transylvania County Students in grades K- 12. The exhibit will run from April 5-27. The gallery is open Monday – Friday from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm. A student reception will be held on Thursday, April 5 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Another reception will be held during Brevard’s 4th Friday Gallery Walk on April 27. The TC Arts Council is located at 349 S. Caldwell Street in Brevard, NC. | May 19 Spring Tour of Homes in Transylvania County The Transylvania Community Arts Council will host its annual Spring Tour of Homes on Saturday, May 19 from 9:30 am – 5 :00 pm. | Pottery Camp Sponsored by Mountain Roots, Inc. @ TC Arts July 9-13 OR July 16-20 Morning Session 9:00 am-Noon Ages 6-10 Afternoon Session 1:30-4:30—Ages 10-15 Cost--$225 per camper During this week of summer camp, students will have the opportunity to learn and practice basic hand-building skills including the pinch, coil, and slab techniques. This experiential camp provides half-day hands-on opportunities to be creative, meet other campers, and create some really cool and useful art. Students will have the opportunity to paint on several of their own glazes (underglazes in various colors), and choose from a variety of colors for their other projects. All ware will be glazed in our dinnerware safe glazes and will be available for pick-up within 2 weeks of camp. Shipping may also be arranged.
