Gallery Exhibit: WHERE I LIVE - An Open Show
TC Arts Council invites local and regional artists to submit artwork for this open show with a theme “Where I Live.” Call TC Arts at 884-2787 to get an application mailed to you. The public is invited to this art exhibit from January 11 – February 5. The gallery is open Monday – Friday from 10 am – 4 pm. An artist reception will be held on Friday, January 15 from 4-7 pm. |

Brevard to Present Cupid’s Gallery Walk
In honor of Valentines Day, the downtown art galleries in Brevard will host a Cupid's mini-gallery walk on Friday, February 12 from 5:00 pm –7:00 pm. Enjoy an evening stroll in downtown Brevard as you enjoy visiting the art galleries that are staying open late. Explore artwork by local and regional artists while you enjoy wine, munchies, music and a fashion show. Be sure to look for the 16 sculptures and five murals located in downtown as well.
The Transylvania Community Arts Council will feature its newest exhibit “Body & Soul.” Mediums include: sculpture, mixed media, collage, photography, wood, paintings, glass, jewelry and much more. An artist reception will be held on Friday night, February 12 from 5:00 –7:00 pm. Stop by and meet the artists featured in “Body & Soul.”
TC Arts Council’s downtown gallery Number 7 Fine Arts & Crafts Cooperative will feature the artwork of its 25 members with many mediums: baskets, photography, mixed media, jewelry, fiber, clay, wood and much more. During the evening Number 7 Arts will host a fashion show featuring artwork and wearables by the artists of Number 7 Arts.
Main Street Ltd. will host a champagne and chocolate tasting during Cupid’s Gallery Walk. Then go next door to the Hollingsworth Gallery and check out their new art display of photos by Phil Thurman entitled: National Parks, "The Nations Best Idea". The following National Parks are featured in the photo display: Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Devils Mountain, Big Bend, Grand Teton, Monument Valley, Yellowstone, Mesa Verde, and Mt Rushmore. This photography exhibit will be up thru February 28.
Other galleries participating include: Bluewood Gallery, Red Wolf Gallery, Drew Deane Gallery, Hunters & Gatherers, Local Color and other downtown art spots. Be sure to look for the 16 sculptures and five murals located in downtown as well. Sweetheart Dancing with Our Stars – Valentine’s Weekend Dance
Sponsored by Heart of Brevard & TC Arts
Talent doesn’t just thrive in Hollywood, California. Western North Carolina has plenty of community celebrities who are willing to compete for one night of glory on the dance floor. Come join us for Dancing with Our Stars on Valentine’s Weekend February 13, 2010 in downtown Brevard. The audience votes for their favorite---$1.00 per vote—which means you can vote as many times as you want and for as many couples as you want! This dance event is held at the Brevard Little Theatre/American Legion Hall on Jordan and Johnson Streets. The Sweetheart Dance is from 8:00 pm through 11:00 pm, with the Dancing with Our Stars program beginning at 9:00 pm. Admission is $10 per person at the door. (Tables of ten people can be reserved for $100). The evening is a fundraiser sponsored by the Heart of Brevard to raise scholarship funds for TC Arts Council’s Summer Kids Art Camps. TC Arts Council hosts this annual exhibit of artwork by local Transylvania County Students in grades K- 12. Christine is the artist who created the ravens, fox, turkey and chipmunk sculptures in downtown Brevard.
