New York Beauty
Intermediate Foundation Quilting
with Linda Voltz
New York Beauty Class Flyer 2-23 (2).png

This class is only for those quilters who already know how to do Foundation / paper piecing. There will not be time to learn the process and complete the project.

We will be learning the process of curved, or arc piecing then attaching the arcs together. There are four quadrants that may have the same arcs or different combinations. Together they will create a colorful wall piece 24” to 32” square, depending on the border widths chosen.

Batiks have been chosen for this project as the color variations make color choices easier, the fabric weight is similar, there is little to no fraying and every finished piece is unique. Students will need both dark and light batiks, and contrasting colors. This piece is all about vivid colors and movement within the quilt. The fun is in the dynamics of color and light.

We will discuss quilting options on the final class day. It is important that time be spent inside and outside of class so that the quadrants are completed by the time we discuss quilting.

Class will begin with a 60- to 90-minute supply and fabric explanation class on Wednesday, February 22. Students need only bring some batiks they already have, pencil and paper for notes, and their supply list sheet. At that time Linda will provide the pattern sheets.
