Gallery Walk officially begins at 5pm, and ends at 7pm, although some participating galleries and businesses may begin a little earlier (or stay open a little later). Please remember that some of the galleries are located several blocks away from the intersection of Main and Broad Streets, and try to save some time to visit their amazing exhibits/offerings.

Special offerings in August include the following.

Spiers Gallery at Brevard College (1 Brevard College Drive) is currently hosting Impact, an invitational exhibition of art by K-12 art instructors within our region that showcases their personal studio practice. Impact is intended to be a conversation space for the works of art educators’ work to amalgamate; a celebration and recognition of all the work, time, and energy that each individual devotes to teaching and practicing art making.

At the Hollingsworth Gallery (147 East Main Street), the August featured artists are Pat Dunham and Nancy Wahl. Nancy is predominantly a landscape artist, working in both oils and pastels. Since moving to North Carolina, Nancy has become enamored with both mountain scenes and the varied colors of fall in North Carolina. Pat works almost exclusively in watercolor, and mainly paints landscapes with the occasional still life here and there. Pat developed a love for plein air painting while living in Arizona and continues to paint outdoors since moving to Brevard. Main Street Limited/Hollingsworth Gallery is also hosting a free wine tasting, along with other refreshments, during this month’s Gallery Walk. Stop by to visit with Nancy and Pat and enjoy their artwork, along with refreshments.

Local Color (36 South Broad Street) invites everyone to stop by for a dose of color and creativity from over 60 area artists, including six new artists. Local Color showcases a vast array of art mediums, including jewelry, repurposed materials, textile, pottery, metal, wood, photography, paintings, prints, yard art, and much more. They hope to see you Friday evening!

At South Broad and Jordan Streets, be sure to stop by Newfound Artisan (22 West Jordan Street), Starfangled Press (36 West Jordan Street), and Dragonfly Gallery (72 South Broad Street) to check out their offerings this month. And a little further down South Broad, The Haen Gallery (210 South Broad Street) has the work of several of their artists on display.

At the Lucy Clark Gallery & Studio (51 West Main Street), Marilyn Bailey is the August featured artist. Marilyn is a Fine Jeweler and Metalsmith artist. In addition, Gallery Walk visitors will enjoy music provided by Rick Kuncicky during the evening. Stop by to see some of Marilyn’s creations and enjoy music and refreshments.

Number 7 Arts Gallery (2 West Main Street), a cooperative gallery and program of the Arts Council, the newest members' show, "The Splendor of it All," opened this week. “The Splendor of it All” celebrates this time of year when color is everywhere you look. Then, when you leave Number 7, be sure to stop next door at the Color Wheel Gallery (4 West Main Street) which is featuring the artwork of Erin Jones, gallery owner.

At Blue Moon Gallery & Frame (24 East Main Street), visitors will enjoy the wide variety of artwork offered at Blue Moon, including the art of local artist Debra Swantek, along with light refreshments. And the adorable 4-pawed Gallery Greeter, Arty, should be on hand to greet everyone. When you leave Blue Moon, be sure to stop by Red Wolf Gallery (8 East Main Street) for more amazing art and conversations with Ann.

The current exhibit at the Arts Council (349 South Caldwell) is ending this week, and the Arts Council will be closed Friday evening. Instead, our staff and board members will be downtown enjoying the exhibits and happenings at other participating galleries.

We look forward to seeing everyone at Brevard Fourth Friday Gallery Walk later this week.

Brevard Fourth Friday Gallery Walks: 2006-2023

Brevard 4th Friday Gallery Walks began in May 2006 when a group of artists and gallery owners of a decided that Brevard needed a way to celebrate local artists and draw visitors to the downtown galleries. The monthly events (May through December) grew to include art spots, restaurants, and other shops, in addition to the galleries. This was, and is, a wonderful way to highlight our vibrant art community.
