FALL CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND REGISTRATION

Class Descriptions

 

After School Classes:

 

TUESDAY: Art Through Our Senses: In this beginning level art class, we will be exploring art and art-making through our senses. We will also learn about the work of famous artists and become inspired to create our own masterpieces! Each week will focus on a different sense/skill, which we will explore through music, movement, and art. Students will come away from the experience with tools they can use to increase their sense of self-awareness and resilience. This 6-week class will meet on Tuesday afternoons, from 3.45-5.15pm. Caren Stewart is the instructor for this class. The registration fee for this class is $150. Ages 5-7.

Session 1: October 12, 19, 26; November 2, 9, 16

 

WEDNESDAY: Drawing and Painting: This is a beginning guided drawing and painting class intended for interested students who want to experiment with a variety of media to produce several finished works of art. Come with an open mind and be ready to learn something new and have fun. A small sketchbook is required. This 8-week class will meet on Wednesday afternoons, from 3.45-5.15pm. Cindy Rehm is the instructor for this class.  The registration fee for this class is $200. Ages 12-14.

Session 1: October 13, 20, 27; November 3, 10, 17; December 1, 8

 

THURSDAY: Introduction to Pottery: TC Arts will offer a hand-building class for students ages 6 – 14. Students will primarily explore clay and create pottery pieces with hand-building techniques. They will also have the opportunity to observe and experience wheel-throwing. This 6-week class will meet on Thursday afternoons, from 4-5.15pm. Nancy Frady is the instructor for this class. The cost for this class is $200/session, and includes clay, firing and all supplies. Ages 6-14.

Session 1: October 7, 14, 21, 28, November 4, 18

Saturday Classes:

Art Explorations: We will create drawings, paintings and sculptures, using many fun and creative techniques. Come with an open mind and be ready to learn something new and have fun. We will surely get a bit messy at times so smocks are required! Art Explorations will meet on Saturday mornings, from 10-11.30am. Cindy Rehm is the instructor for this class. The registration fee is $175. Ages 8-11.

SPECIAL ONE-DAY SESSION: On October 23rd, join Cindy for a morning of pottery. Your student will create a wall pocket similar to the one on our Facebook page. This class meets from 10-11.30am. The fee for this class is $40. Ages 8-11.

SPECIAL ONE-DAY SESSION: October 23 only

Drawing with Billy Smith: Learn from local artist Billy Smith!  This 8-week class is for interested students who want to expand their drawing skills. A sketchbook is required. This class will will meet on Saturday afternoons, from 12.30-2.30pm. The registration fee for this 8-week class is $250. Ages 16-22.

Session 1: October 9, 16, 23, 30; November 6, 13, 20, 27

 

Fun with Storytelling & Animation: Explore various media art forms, including puppetry, flip books, green screen, stop motion and video editing, as we collaborate to bring out the magic in your storytelling! Students may bring their own iPads/tablets or laptop, although a few will be available to share. Fun with Animation will meet on Saturday mornings, from 10am to Noon.  The instructor for this class is Michael Koz. The registration fee for this class is $150/session. Ages 8-12.

Session 1: October 9, 16, 23, 30

Session 2: November 6, 13, 20; December 4, 11

 

Introduction to Cartooning: Draw cartoon characters in this fun introductory cartooning class. Learn how to design your own characters, and construct fun facial features, eyes, hair, and costumes. A small sketchbook is required. Cartooning will meet on Saturday afternoons, from 12.30-2.30pm. The instructor for this class is Michael Koz. The registration fee for this class is $150/session.  Ages 8-12.

Session 1: October 9, 16, 23, 30

Session 2: November 6, 13, 20; December 4, 11

Adult Classes:

Digital Photography: The Basics: Learn the basics of digital cameras and digital photography in this class for adults ages 18 and above. Students will need to bring their own digital cameras, preferably cameras with manual settings. The class will meet on Monday mornings, from 10-11.30am. This class is taught by Kathy King. The registration fee for this class is $125.

Session 1: October 11, 18, 25

Fun with Digital Scrapbooking: Learn basic photo editing and how to create templates and layouts to turn your photos into greeting cards and scrapbook pages. The class will meet on Monday mornings, from 10-11.30am. Students will need to provide their own laptops with Photoshop Elements 2021 installed. This class is taught by Kathy King. The registration fee for this class is $125.

Session 1: November 8, 15, 29; December 6

Adult Workshops:

Acrylic Pouring (October 8th): Acrylic Pouring is a painting technique where acrylic paint is mixed with a pouring medium and then poured onto a surface in a variety of ways.  Have you seen all the YouTube videos and wanted to try it? Have you tried it, but been frustrated by a muddy mess?  Come learn the ins and outs of working acrylics in this fun and fluid way! We will cover different pouring mediums, paint mixing and consistency, different techniques for applying and moving paint, curing and sealing your work, troubleshooting, and more! This class will also have many demos and, of course, play time for you to create your own pieces to take home. You should also pack a snack or lunch, as we will take a lunch break about half-way through.

This workshop will meet from 10am-2pm on Friday, October 8th, and will be led by Robyn Crawford. The registration fee for this class is $90, which includes all materials.


Hand Printed Papers (October 15th):  Discover the wonderful world of mono printing using a gelatin plate and acrylics! We will play with textures, colors, and print surfaces, as we create some amazing papers for collage, cards, handmade books, art journals, and whatever mixed media art your heart desires.
Loads of tips and techniques will be shared, with lots of time for discovery and hands-on creating. All materials will be provided. Just wear old clothes and come ready to have fun. You should also pack a snack or lunch, as we will take a lunch break about half-way through.

This workshop will meet from 10am-2pm on Friday, October 15th, and will be led by Robyn Crawford. The registration fee for this class is $90, which includes all materials.

NEW ADULT WORKSHOPS


Make and Take Workshop! Alcohol Inks on Ornaments! Come play with alcohol inks and create some spectacular ornaments for yourself or to give as gifts! All levels welcome; no experience needed. This workshop will be led by Robyn Crawford. The registration fee for this class is $75, which includes all materials. Select either Session 1 OR Session 2.

Make and Take Workshop!  Hand Printed Gift Tags & Cards for the Holidays! 
Come play with the wonderful world of printing using a gelatin plate and acrylics! We will print some one-of-a-kind papers to turn into a whole bunch of gift tags, gift card enclosures, and holiday cards. No experience necessary! Bring a snack/lunch, and wear clothes you don't mind getting messy. This workshop will be led by Robyn Crawford. The registration fee for this class is $125, which includes all materials.
